Omaha Hi-Lo: General Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is often times viewed as one of the most difficult but popular poker variations. It’s a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible game, has increased in popularity so rapidly.
Omaha/8 starts just like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to every player. A round of betting ensues where gamblers can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting ensues. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. an additional sequence of wagering happens at which point the river card is revealed. The players must attempt to make the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is the point where some players can get confused. Unlike Hold’em, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."

The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the high hand takes the whole pot.
It may seem complex initially, after a couple of hands you will be agile enough to get the basic subtleties of play easily enough.
