Omaha Hi Lo: Fundamental Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most complicated but popular poker games. It is a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant game, has increased in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha 8 or better starts exactly like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to each player. A sequence of betting follows where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are given out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting happens. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, a further card is flipped on the turn. a further round of betting happens and then the river card is revealed. The players will have to make the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is where some entrants get flustered. Unlike Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must use exactly three cards on the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. No more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot could be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the best possible hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the same notion in almost every poker game.
A lower hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the worst hand that could be made, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and lower. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the higher hand takes the complete pot.
Although it seems complicated at first, following a couple of hands you will be agile enough to pick up on the fundamental subtleties of the game simply enough. Seeing as you have players wagering for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are being used at the same time, Omaha 8 or better provides an amazing collection of wagering choices and owing to the fact that you have several individuals shooting for the high hand, as well as several battling for the low hand.
