Omaha Hi-Low: Basic Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most difficult but popular poker games. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure game, has expanded in popularity so rapidly.
Omaha hi low starts just like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering ensues where players can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are given out, this is referred to as the flop. One more sequence of wagering happens. After all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of wagering ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The players will have to make the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a few entrants often get confused. Unlike Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player has to utilize exactly 3 cards from the board, and exactly two hole cards. No more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It is the best hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the very same concept in just about every poker game.
A lower hand is more complicated, but really free’s up the action. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that could be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and lower. The low hand wins half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the higher hand takes the complete pot.
It may seem difficult initially, following a few rounds you will be agile enough to get the fundamental nuances of the game with ease. Seeing as you have players betting for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha hi-low provides an overwhelming collection of betting possibilities and owing to the fact that you have many individuals shooting for the high hand, along with several shooting for the low. If you love a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha hi/low.
